Eight Simple Steps to Create the Perfect Guestroom

Are you about to have guests who will stay overnight? If you are then you should make time to properly prepare your guestroom so that your visitors can feel welcomed and comfortable during their stay at your household.

Step 1: De-clutter the room

Grab a basket and collect all misplaced items which are in your guestroom. The room should appear tidy and well-organised so that your visitors can feel cozy. Once you have gathered all scattered objects put them in their rightful place.

Step 2: Open the windows

If you don’t have the habit of using the room frequently, you should open the window in order to allow fresh air to enter into your guestroom. You can open the door in order to create a currently which will facilitate air movement throughout the room.

Step 3: Change the bedding

A fresh set of bed linens is absolutely obligatory to make your guests feel welcomed and comfortable.

Step 4: Clean the room

Get your duster and meticulously remove all dust build-ups from the room. Wipe clean all countertops and last not but last vacuum the carpet thoroughly as studies show that rugs tend to accumulate the largest amount of harmful particles such as dirt, bacteria, germs, allergens, dust and etc. If you don’t have the time to properly sanitise the room because you have to take care of other duties regarding the arrival of your guests, know that you can delegate the task to professional and licensed cleaners who provide domestic and carpet sanitation services in London.

Step 5: Empty the closet and drawers

It doesn’t matter whether your guests will stay with you for a night, weekend or longer, you must make sure that they have enough space for them to store their belongings and clothes. This is why you must remove all your possessions from your guestroom’s closet and drawers. Also make sure to leave a sufficient amount of hanger for your visitors.

Step 6: Stock the bathroom

Replace all the towels in the bathroom with fresh ones. Also stock the room with toiletries such as:

  • Soap bars
  • Liquid soap
  • Shampoo
  • Hair products
  • Body gel
  • Shaving cream
  • Hand cream
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes

While your guests may be bringing their own toiletries it is very important that you have all angles covered just to be on the safe side and more importantly to put your visitors in the uncomfortable spots where they must ask for something that you don’t have. Also make sure that there is enough toilet paper.

Step 7: Clear the bedside tables

Remove all unnecessary items from your bedside tables. This way your guest will have a surface on which they can put their phones, glasses, books, magazines when they go to sleep. Also make sure that both night lamps are functioning properly and if necessary replace the light bulbs.

Step 8: Close the windows and heat the room

This is especially important if you are receiving your guests during the colder months of the year.
